You have probably seen this, but PRAISE GOD to the parents who taught “Abby” this passage!! It is very encouraging to those of us who struggle to teach their children to memorize a single verse weekly!! I hope this encourages you as much as it encourages me!
Conor and I prayed specifically for joy last night. I guess somehow in the middle of all of this, I’d forgotten that if I prayed for the ability to smile, to be able to look past – even ignore, to some degree – the imminent sadness before us, just for today, God would be faithful to answer.
I have been reading about a family in Nashville, TN, whose baby girl was born about one week ago with Trisomy-18 (Edward’s Disease). They did not expect to even get to take Copeland home from the hospital. She passed away Wednesday afternoon….and the glory this family has shown God is an inspiration! Through everything they have been through, they are praising, worshipping, honoring, glorifying God! They are not angry, not bitter….they realize that God has a purpose and a plan for all things.
God seems to be working with every single cell in her body and doing what He always set out to accomplish with her. (Monday, September 24, 2007)
I am so thankful for the witness that Conor and Boothe have been to me, through this strange and wonderful medium of Blogging. I will continue to pray for them as they struggle with the next days and weeks…adjusting to life with Copeland in the arms of the Father.
Please pray for them.
This week my WFMW tip is something that I have recently discovered in my parenting life. I am TERRIBLE when it comes to shopping and sticking to a list. One of my purposes as a mother is to teach my children to do things better than I do them. I am determined to teach my children to be better managers of God’s gifts than I am.
With this in mind, I have begun taking Girly Girl with me to the grocery store with me. Before we go in, we talk about how God has graciously blessed her father and me with good jobs that pay us more than we deserve to be paid…and how we must use this money wisely, and therefore we must stick to our list! (this is a great result of Monday Menu Planning)
I hope this is the beginning of some great lessons we both learn when it comes to managing God’s gifts….and it WORKS FOR ME!

There is a time in my life when autumn became my favorite season…I really believe it was after Maurice and I met — our first autumn together I spent 2 weeks in North Carolina with him and his sister. We took trips to the mountains to take pictures and I fell in love with the colors, the smells, the weather…it was glorious!
After moving back to Alabama, we have really come to treasure the true change of seasons we experienced in North Carolina. The color was (and still is) magnificient! The air is crisp and cool….the perfect weather to keep windows open…and still too chilly to keep them open all night! In Alabama, we are still in hot, humid days and warm, humid nights. That will change, but probably not until January.
One of the things I love about this time of year is decorating the house for the autumn season. Not halloween, not Thanksgiving, but the entire season! I love mums, pumpkins, gords, native american corn, hay bales, scarecrows and colored leaves. It just feels homey to me!
I am looking forward to getting my home decorated for the season!! — even if the weather doesn’t feel like autumn!!!
